Job CoachSTART DATE: September 3, 2024SALARY RANGE: $38,675-$45,500 (10-month full-time salary). Excellent benefits are available.(There is no current Civil Service List of Eligibles – position must be filled provisionally and is open to outsidecandidates. Appointee must take, pass and be reachable on the next civil service exam given for this title to remain in the position on a permanent basis.) In Career and Technical Education at TST BOCES, we look for employees who are enthusiastic about sharing their expertise with students. Under direction of the Director of Career and Technical Education, the primary responsibility of the job coach is to work collaboratively with the Work-Based Learning (WBL) team and Teachers, guided by the mission that every student receives an authentic learning experience that allow students to explore their career goals, abilities, and interests while applying their academic and technical knowledge and skills in a real-world context. The Job Coach works with individual students or small groups of students who require support. The Job Coach is a member of the Work-based Learning team and will work with students from CTE and P-Tech.DUTIES: An employee in this position is responsible for providing specialized on-site and off-site assistance to high school students in the development of job search skills, securing a job, and keeping a job for a sustained period of time. The work includes identifying local labor market trends, matching student skills with employer needs, and facilitating job placements. Transporting students to and from various locations within the community may be necessary and therefore it will be necessary for this individual to secure and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License including driving company minivan (7 passenger), minibus (15 passenger) and/or large school bus depending on the number of students. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Career & Tech Education. The incumbent will perform all related duties as required.• Directly supervises students on the jobsite providing immediate feedback• Assists with evaluation of student performance sharing feedback with teachers and WBL team.• Assist students with job interview training, actual job interviews, resume development, completion of applications, job acquisition, and post-employment follow-up, checking in, etc.• Transports students to various sites within the community when necessary• Interviews students and identifies aptitudes and potential in the job market• Networks and works closely with CTE teachers and the WBL Team to ensure student success• Assists with coordination of services with other organizations, training programs and agencies• Maintains up-to-date records of employment opportunities• Refers students to appropriate local resources and disseminates information to clients regarding job opportunities, training, or other related opportunities• Keeps accurate record of all services provided to individual students QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two-year college with an associate degree in social science, human services or resources, or similar program and two years of full-time paid experience as a counselor, caseworker, employment interviewer or similar title in a community action or similar agency dealing with employment or training. OR Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and 4 years of full-time paid experience as a counselor, caseworker, employment interviewer or similar title in a community action or similar agency dealing with employment or training.Preferred skills: Working knowledge of basic word processing and computer operation, Excellent organizational and communication skills, Skilled at job training, Ability to act independently, Ability to prioritize tasks and effectivelyfollow-through, Flexible, Persistent and patient, Likes Challenges and have Tact, diplomacy, and good judgment .Note: Ability to drive students is a requirement of this position The Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, political affiliation, sex, age, marital or veteran status, disability, religious practice, ethnic group, gender expression and identity, or weight, or genetic predisposition in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
