Position Title : Scenic Changeover Crew Machine Op

Position Summary

The Scenic Changeover Crew Machine Op is an integral part of the changeover crew responsible for removing scenic elements from our stage and replacing them with separate scenic elements, which allows us to rotate through shows on a nightly basis.

Working outdoors, the changeover crew machine op will be the main driver for all used heavy machinery for the changeover.

Machinery will include a 55' telehandler, 12' telehandler and Forklift.

Responsibilities

• Moving large scenic elements on a daily basis
• Operate heavy machinery
• Assist hands on when machine moves aren't needed
• Communicate effectively with the rigger to ensure units are picked up safely.
• Assist with the on-going inspection of each scenic element to identify and perform needed repairs
• Maintain and keep spaces clean daily
• Maintain the integrity of the Scenic Design
• Maintain flexible schedule for work calls especially during tech weeks
• Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and maintain a safe work environment
• Contribute to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of / and experience in a variety of scenic construction techniques
• Experience in driving large heavy machinery including telehandler, forklifts, and mobile man platforms
• Knowledge of rigging is a plus
• Working knowledge of standard scene shop tools
• Ability to collaborate with the scenic team to efficiently complete assigned projects
• Ability to maintain a professional work environment that reports to a Supervisor
• Ability to work outside in a desert climate
• Ability to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team to complete assigned tasks
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
• Works well in a fast paced and high pressure environment
• Ability to lift 40 lbs

2024 Season shows include Frozen, Anastasia, Jersey Boys, Ring of Fire, and A Christmas Carol.

Salary / Rate : $20.50 per hour

Housing can be provided and negotiated

This position is a Union position that falls under the Local 720 IATSE Union
