SUMMARY :
Provides oversight to employees managing central plant operations including, distribution and production of normal and emergency power, chilled water, steam, medical gasses and vacuum, HVAC, potable and non potable water systems throughout hospital facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Performs supervisory functions; prepares work schedules, assigns staff, observes and reviews performance to provide input to formal evaluations, and makes recommendations for personnel actions; assists in staff selection and provides orientation, training and ongoing in-services for staff.Schedules and supervises Plant Services and Operations functions and activities so as not to interrupt or interfere with patient care activities.
Demonstrates and upholds established standards of behavior, safety, and confidentiality, as well as TMCH and department policies and standards.
Adheres to and supports staff in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff.
Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Monitors and controls expenses within approved budget allocations.
Develops, implements, administers, and modifies programs to maintain the physical plant, grounds, and equipment of the hospital through effective utilization of personnel and materials.
Directs, supervises, coordinates, and monitors power plant activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant.
Reviews work in progress; checks and inspects as necessary for conformance to job specifications.
Examines tools and equipment used by workers to diagnose problems and ensure that safety measures are observed.
Plans general maintenance activities, setting up annual objectives, and implementing a preventive maintenance program for buildings and equipment.
Plans for and oversees major repairs, renovation, and new construction. Serves as liaison between hospital and contractor during construction cycle.
Establishes preventive maintenance schedules and prioritizes repair and maintenance work to minimize disruption of hospital operations.
Organizes and maintains an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; orders replacement parts.
Extracts data from sources such as blue prints, engineering orders, reports and specifications.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE :Three (3) years related experience, preferably including lead or supervisory experience.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION : None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

• Knowledge of plant operations and facility services.
• Skill in training and leading staff.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
