The Certified Recovery Mentor(CRM/Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will supportindividuals who have chosen to receive deflection services, or have a desire to participate in recovery services. The CRM/PSS will work within and around a center supporting individuals through the full continuum of services at the center. CRM/PSS will meet each new resident at intake into the center and support the individual in feeling welcome, answer their questions, provide compassionate support, and guide throughout the facility process. They will provide ongoing support to ensure that the individuals are achieving their self-determined goals identified in their care plan. The CRM/PSS will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator for recovering individuals entering the center. Duties and Responsibilities:
● Serving as a key support for individuals who have opted in to deflection, starting at intake to ensure a warm hand off from law enforcement to the deflection center for at least 30 days.

● Identify obstacles to accessing services and support, addressing these in collaboration with participants and their Individual Recovery Management Team.
● Ensure that all individuals have appropriate care plans in place before leaving the facility.
● If support is needed to implement the care plan, ensure that the appropriate supports are in place.
● When appropriate, assertively support connections to mutual self-help groups.
● Provide peer support to help the individuals have their voices fully heard and their needs, goals and objectives established as the focal point.
● Support individuals to identify their area of need for professional supports and services and communicating those needs to clinical staff.
● Transporting individuals to the appropriate referral source or safe environment.
● Coach individuals on independent use of community resources.
● Maintain contact by phone and/or email to provide peer support to aid individuals after they leave the program to insure their on-going success and to provide re-engagement support in partnership with others in the organization, if needed.
● Develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership to support individuals in achieving their goals.
● Completes documentation, reports and captures data in accordance with the Stabilization Center processes.
● Refers individuals to appropriate services in the community as necessary and documents referrals and outcomes.
● All other duties assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Education and/or Experience:
● A personal belief in recovery.
● Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
● Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians and public.
● High Energy Level, Flexibility, Interpersonal Skills and ability to function as a team with other employees.
● An ability to flexibly engage people based on their own needs.
● Demonstrated ability to respect and maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with management, peers, customers andindividuals at all times.
● Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.
● Demonstrated ability to read, understand and speak English.
● Must hold a valid driver's license.
● High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
● Connecticut Community Recovery (CCAR) Training Required. CPR/AED and De-escalation skills
● Demonstrated ability to use the entire MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Ability to learn in-house software.
● Must have 2 years of continuous addiction recovery.
● Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification and MHACBO Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certification is required but may be applied for within 1 month of hire.
● The incumbent must continually demonstrate excellent oral and Written communication skills
