About the Position: Assist anesthetists throughout the day including with patients during pre-op, intra-op, and postop care Assist with taking patient radiographs Assist with patient intakes Run various patient lab work Assist with outpatient appointments Assist with setup of patient monitoring equipment and warming devices Assist with surgical inventory control Provides general husbandry for the surgical services Assist surgeon during surgical procedures such as abdominal explores, fracture repair, cruciate repair, and thoracotomies Aseptically prep patients for procedures Setup and breakdown of surgical suites Setup and breakdown of induction Sterilely gown and glove into surgeries Assist with central sterilization of all surgical instruments and equipment Familiar with surgical instrument and equipment names and use Assist with setup, run, and maintain autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaner, and distillers Shift: Fulltime (36-40 hour) benefit position within the surgery services along with a rotating on-call schedule and one major and one minor ECC holiday shift a year. Personal Requirements: Minimum of 18 years old Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can properly and safely handle and work with stressed, ill or in pain patients Must have the ability to support and foster an environment of diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and empathy Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis Well-spoken and approaches his/her job duties in a mature nature Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment Can provide a high commitment to exceptional patient care Excellent client and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment Must be well-spoken, professional, approachable, and maintain a positive outlook Must be detailed oriented and reliable Physical Effort: Work requires lifting, carrying, and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position. Working Conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious diseases. Compensation: Is based on education, experience, credentials, and skill level.
