Tuolumne County is Hiring a Fiscal Technician Near Sonora, CA

***HIRING INCENTIVE **

New employees hired or current employees promoted into this classification will be eligible for the following hiring incentives:

  • Hiring Incentive—paid in first paycheck: $1,000
  • Personal Leave credit in first paycheck: 40 hours
  • Upon completion of probationary period and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $1,000
  • Upon completion of 2 years and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $1,500
  • Upon completion of 4 years and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $2,500
  • Upon completion of 5 years and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $3,000

GRAND TOTAL: $9,000

The following incentive will only apply to new employees of the County of Tuolumne:

  • Up to $2,000 housing allowance/moving expenses upon approval by, and at the sole discretion of, the County Administrator

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provide technical, difficult, complex and/or specialized fiscal work including tax and revenue billing and collection, payroll, accounts payable, and other financial, accounting and/or budgetary support in a centralized or departmental setting; complies, inputs, and maintains a variety of financial data; prepares a variety of reports and records; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises no supervision of staff. May provide training to less experienced staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is the technical/specialist level in the accounting support series. Positions in this class require a definable body of knowledge and skill and/or have specific programmatic responsibility which are normally gained through a combination of technical education above the high school level and significant on-the-job experience. While responsibilities may vary, depending upon the department to which assigned, all positions are characterized by the performance of technical and complex accounting and financial support work, requiring the regular use of independent judgment and initiative. This class is distinguished from the Accountant and Auditor class series in that the latter are professional-level classes, requiring the knowledge of accounting theory and broad practices and the ability to install and implement improved accounting systems and processes.

Minimum Qualifications


Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be

Equivalent to graduation from twelfth (12th) grade; and

Two (2) year as a Senior Account Clerk with the County of Tuolumne, or equivalent public sector employer;

OR

Three (3) years an Account Clerk II with the County of Tuolumne, or equivalent public sector employer;

OR

Three (3) years of full-time experience in the maintenance and review of fiscal, financial, accounting or statistical records; 12 semester units or 18 quarter units in accounting, business math. Bookkeeping or close related field may be substituted for one year of required experience;

OR

An Associated degree in accounting and six months of full-time experience in the maintenance and review of fiscal, financial, accounting or statistical records.

  • Retention incentive based on years of service: 5 years = 2.5%, 10 years = 5%, 15 years = 10%, 20 years = 15%, and 25 years = 20%
  • Probation Period: 13 pay periods

    May qualify for:

    • Employee 3.5% down payment and 2% closing cost assistance program
    • Student loan forgiveness
    • Education assistance program
