Assistant Dietary Manager

Position Summary :

Assists the Dietary Manager direct all aspects of the food service / dietary department.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in kitchen, preferably in a hospital, nursing or other related medical facility
• Proven experience managing a budget and controlling food costs

Responsibilities :

The Assistant Dietary Supervisor will assist the Dietary Manager do the following :

• Plan, develop, organize, evaluate and direct the Food Services Department reputation, programs and activities
• Hire, train and supervise staff in a kind, collaborative manner
• Partner with Dietician to ensure residents’ diets and nutritional needs are met
• Coordinate food services and activities with other related departments as needed
• Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies
• Monitor staff to confirm they adhere to all sanitation, safety and procedural guidelines
• Participate in facility’s surveys and inspections, developing a plan of correction if / when deficiencies are noted
• Assist in developing and maintaining written food services policies and procedures
• Inspect special diet trays to confirm patients / residents receiving the correct food
• Ensure all meals are served on time; including snacks
• Ensure food quality and that kitchen areas and equipment are clean and operable
• Manage food storage rooms, utility / janitorial closets for regulatory compliance
• Ensure charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of meals provided
• Provide reports on department status and / or for dietary programs when requested
