Accounting Manager

Arlington, VA - Hybrid (4 days in with flexibility)

We are working with a client that is in search of an Accounting Manager. This role will help supervise a team of 3 senior accountants and will oversight the day to day accounting operations including but not limited to general ledger maintenance, monthly close, monthly & yearly reporting, annual audit support, year-end taxes support, and financial statement preparation.

The ideal candidate will previous experience supervising a team, proven experience helping improve or implement new processes, streamlining monthly close and helping support system evaluations or implementations.

Responsibilities:

• Overall day-to-day management of the accounting of multiple business unites
• Analyze internal controls and redesign business processes in connection with nonprofit best practices in areas such as chart of account redesign, procure to pay, order to cash, month end close, record to report, etc.
• Lead, manage and coach fellow accountants
• Review monthly financial statements including month over month variance analysis and / or actual to budget analysis
• Analyze and interpret financial information for client management and provide actionable insight and decision support
• Continuously identify opportunities to enhance monthly operations make suggestions for process improvements
• Understand our technology stack and identify additional add-on processes, systems, modules, and integrations that can drive month end close efficiencies.

Ideal Background:

• Bachelor or Masters in Accounting or Business related Field
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years overseeing a team
• Experience with financial software, such as Sage Intacct or Concur systems
• CPA or CPA candidate is preferred
• Attention to detail, particularly with populating reports/filings with financial data
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple ongoing projects and deliverables
