EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 18 years of age with a strong work ethic. Graduation from high school or equivalent. Minimum of at least 3 years of experience in the maintenance and upkeep a casino, hotel and/or a commercial facility or other related operation is required. Will be required to work overtime as assigned. Must possess or within a year obtain certification in order to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP).

SUMMARY

This position provides skilled craftsmanship and maintains a safe working environment for everyone by keeping the Casino, Hotel, Market and the Grounds Building in good repair. To maintain an excellent quality standard pertaining to the installation, maintenance and repair of major fixed, auxiliary, special service and fire protection equipment. To provide the necessary maintenance and repair of the domestic water, electrical, HVAC, natural gas, plumbing and waste disposal systems along with maintenance & repair of the facilities, furnishings and fixtures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Requests materials for requisition; provides labor and material costs for assigned work orders.
  • Retrieves and enters all assigned work order data daily in computerized maintenance management system.
  • Reviews equipment status daily in the Johnson Control Metasys system & takes any necessary corrective action.
  • Assists with the training of new hires, oversees the department when the Supervisor and Manager are not available.
  • Provides guidance and direction to less experienced personnel and other department requests.
  • Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations.
  • Assists and monitors outside contract service groups on site.
  • Provides suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and components should be replaced do to potential risks and equipment failure.
  • Works well as a team, independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Keeps all assigned areas clean, orderly and in compliance with NEC & NFPA standards for storage.

Performs scheduled PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE:

  • Performs Daily Routine Rounds of major fixed equipment to ensure facility proper operation and safety.
    • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance actions on major fixed and auxiliary equipment.
  • Provides equipment data updates, insures equipment is properly tagged and operating instructions & safety precautions are posted on all equipment for the maintenance identification system.

Troubleshoots HVAC EQUIPMENT, performs emergency repairs, minor repairs and assists with major repairs on:

  • Ventilation equipment (air handling units, exhaust systems, return air fans, etc.) and related auxiliary equipment (motors, pumps, valves, etc.).
  • Hot water boilers including the heating hot water distribution systems.
  • Air conditioning and refrigeration systems, metering devices and piping, air compressors, actuators, controls and valves.
  • Pressure instruments, bimetallic and fluid filled temperature and flow instruments.
  • Field controls to include direct digital control on the energy management systems.
  • Air/water cooled condensers, cooling tower systems, evaporators & condensers, fans & fan motors, control air systems, direct expansion & chilled water air conditioning systems, refrigeration hermetic, semi-hermetic and non-hermetic compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.

Installs, troubleshoots, and performs GENERAL PLUMBING repairs on:

  • Domestic water piping, soil waste, storm and vent piping for all plumbing fixtures and related equipment as per applicable plumbing codes.
  • Plumbing systems for restrooms, mechanical rooms, kitchens, safety eyewash and deluge shower piping systems, as well as waste piping, water softening systems and the domestic water distribution system.
  • Installs plumbing piping systems in new installations, as well as revisions to existing piping in mechanical equipment areas.
  • Prepares and sweats copper joints, cuts, threads and installs pipe with fittings, packs pumps and valves as required.

Performs CARPENTRY and MASONARY repairs and/or replaces as routine maintenance:

  • Carpet, ceramic, tile, wood & other related flooring materials.
  • Drop, drywall, spline & other ceiling materials.
  • Block, ceramic, drywall, metal, plaster, prefabricated & other wall materials.
  • Metal & wood doors, frames, glass, screens, closing devices, panic bar assemblies & other related door hardware & materials.
  • Cabinets, shelving units, bookcases, & other related fixtures & furnishings.
  • Windows, frames, glass, screens and related window hardware.
  • Metal, plastic & prefabricated wood.
  • Key cores, key cylinder, locks & related locksmith equipment and materials.

Performs ELECTRICAL repairs:

  • Inspects on a routine basis electrical services (120v, 208v, 277v and 460v) three phase), equipment, fixtures and other components (wiring, conduit, breakers, contactors, relays, timers and controls) to ensure they remain functional and are up to code, as well as to identify any hazards or issues.
  • Diagnoses problems and then repair/replace defective parts.
  • Keeps generator, lighting, and electrical systems in working order.
  • Repairs electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment and other components so they remain at full functional capacity.
  • Performs electrical maintenance and repair work; install/replace fixtures, switches, receptacles and wiring.
  • Acts quickly when a breakdown occurs, must be able to tell management whether the problem can be corrected and whether operations can continue as usual.
  • Estimates how long a shutdown will last if regular activities must be stopped.
  • Tests & troubleshoot systems with devices such as voltmeters, Ampmeteres, Megohmeters and ohmmeters to ensure the system remains safe and the components are compatible.

Performs routine PREP, PRIME and PAINTING practices:

  • Paint interior and exterior projects.
  • Prepares equipment, fixtures, furniture & building surfaces for finishing; washing, scraping, patching, caulking, plastering & other related methods and processes.
  • Prepares paints, varnishes, lacquers, stains and thinners according to specifications and applies to prepared surfaces.
  • Removes graffiti from interior surfaces and appurtenances using solvents and pressure washing equipment where necessary.
  • Inspects and insures all containers are in accordance with the Hazardous Communications Policy and Industry Standards in reference to the use and disposal of paints, stains, varnishes, thinners & solvents, etc.

Troubleshoots SUPPORT EQUIPMENT, performs emergency repairs, minor repairs prior to recommending contracted outside service groups on:

  • Fixed kitchen appliances (dishwasher, kettles, ovens, etc.)
  • Laundry equipment (washers, dryers, etc.)

Assists with GAMING FLOOR SPECIALTIES on a routine basis:

  • The coordination, set-up and take down of special activities, events and promotions.
  • The repair and restoration of table games. (leveling, felts, bumpers, woodwork, etc.)
  • Moving and set up of gaming floor configurations.
  • Performs OTHER DUTIES as assigned.

OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must be able to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner by prioritizing obligations. Must possess the ability to work with various personalities while maintaining impartiality. Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticisms in order to learn new, updated information. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position. Must be self-motivated and reliable. Must have a thorough working knowledge of the theory, operation, repair & upkeep of air handling units, boilers (domestic water & heating), controls (heating, ventilation & air conditioning). Electrical (AC & DC), fire protection, HVAC, lighting, mechanical, plumbing, pumps, water treatment equipment and systems. Must be familiar with the theory and operation of refrigeration units; cycles and repair, Centrifugal Liquid Chillers, Air Cooled Scroll and Screw Chillers, the principals of air movement; distribution, filtration and system balance. Must be able to use hand and power tools related to the maintenance and upkeep of the facility and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, simple line drawings & specifications with a willingness to obtain additional knowledge.

Basic hand tools, power tools, meters, and other general maintenance equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry on occasion

Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines. Work around large crowds. Be able to complete projects in a timely matter. WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud smoking environment. Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance. May be required to work in small, enclosed spaces. Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA. Work in all different climates, spring, summer, fall, winter that includes heat, rain, hail, snow, sleet, etc.

COMMENTS

Native American and Tribal Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
