COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER HELPER
Knowledge of rough/form, rugged frame, interior build-out, blocking, and hardware installation. On-the-job training/ carpentry experience emphasizing concrete formwork, manufactured and stick build type, and background on commercial construction project worksites, preferably with a general contractor. Should be able to handle and operate various carpentry power tools safely. Knowledge of general safety regulations (OSHA 10 class a plus). Should be able to follow written and verbal instructions, use essential hand tools (shovels, picks, rakes, sledgehammers, etc.), clean up, grade structural material, or excavate footer areas. Should work well with others and have reasonable communication skills. Duties will also require but are not limited to, assisting carpenters with materials, loading and unloading building supplies, and organizing materials in staging areas. The position will require applicants to work in various weather conditions, climb stairs and ladders to complete assigned tasks, carry necessary tools and equipment, and work in kneeling, squatting, and standing positions. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary occasionally.
Performing as a craft worker requires the following physical and mental abilities to succeed.
Vision Acuity Requirements:
Must have good visual acuity to detect possible safety hazards and to perform details of work routines. Must be able to read within arm’s length to permit the operation of switches or to adjust knobs on tools and/or equipment.
Craft workers will be exposed to the following work environments and conditions:· Work activities both inside buildings and out of doors· Subject to varying outdoor weather working conditions, including heat and cold· Sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level· Hazards, including physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts
