Summary

The Plant Controller is a key member of the plant leadership team and the Corporate Finance & Accounting Team. This role reports into the Corporate Finance & Accounting Team, with dotted line reporting to the site General Manager. Partnering closely with operations in a hands on, plant based environment, the role will serve as a key leader of a multi-shift unionized large scale single customer distribution facility. The Plant Controller is a high visibility role that drives and reports financial performance and provides key input for strategic business decisions. The role will drive collaboration at all levels of the business including key customers, employees, plant operations, and corporate leadership. This role is the single financial liaison between plant operations and Corporate Finance & Accounting and reporting.

Essential Functions

• Support accounting procedures related to month end close, such as accruals and reconciliations, including variance analysis
• Review and analyze production variances (materials & labor) with management
• Provide operational support with capital expenditure requests and asset management, including tracking and disposal
• Preparation and maintenance of plant specific and ad hoc financial reporting
• Labor forecasting and modelling
• Blanket Purchase Order tracking and maintenance
• Customer production tracking and reporting
• Union contract economic modeling
• Commercial modeling / cost accounting support and analysis
• Weekly revenue capturing, reporting, and AR collection
• Weekly payroll analysis (site specific)
• Tracking, reporting, and financial resolution of customer chargebacks
• Preparation of monthly and quarterly forecasts
• Preparation of annual plant financial and capital budgeting process including cost accounting analysis
• Maintenance of internal financial controls
• Financial KPI reporting, tracking and review with management (site specific)
• Financial representative on all site level cost savings projects
• Driving strong performance management across operations

The associate may occasionally be required to lift up to 51 pounds, anything greater than 51 pounds requires assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job is performed in an office environment with routine exposure to warehouse / plant operations. The warehouse environment is subject to seasonal temperatures and regular exposure to forklift traffic. Safety vests are required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full Time, Exempt. Hybrid 80/20 schedule (4 days in office / 1 day remote). Schedule flexibility for extended or unplanned work hours is required. Weekend work may be required.

Travel

Some travel between locations may be required.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting, 2 plant controller/cost in a manufacturing or 3PL environment
