Twenty20 Tax and Consulting is Hiring a Tax Staff Near Portland, OR

Job DescriptionAre you looking for a way to learn faster, grow your skills, and find more meaning from your job than filling numbers into boxes on countless 1040s? Guess what? So are we. At Twenty20 Tax and Consulting, we've decided to flip the industry on itself and do taxes… differently.
A bit about us:We at Twenty20 Tax and Consulting are no longer a compliance-only firm. Instead, we are centering our efforts on Tax Advisory (TAS) and Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS). Our firm works primarily with small- to mid-size business owners and high-net-worth individuals to properly plan for their taxes throughout the entire year, helping shape their financial decisions, and showcasing real tax savings when we file their returns.
Still interested? It’s not a fit for everyone. It takes someone who likes to see the big picture, connect the dots, and eagerly continue to learn every day. How else will you go places in this industry? We’re a small firm that operates with big firm standards and clients who keep you on your toes. You’ll be part of a tight knit team without the hierarchical dog and pony show – your voice will be heard, you’ll have autonomy, and the high expectations will grow your skillset faster than being part of a faceless crowd. You will learn from experienced professional mentors who are focused on your career growth and success.
You’ll be a great fit if:
  • You have a solid understanding of how the tax code works (specifically for business entities). We’re talking having a vast number of varied returns under your belt and a hunger to tackle bigger, meatier cases.
  • You enjoy stretching your skills and preparing complex returns that showcase the final tax savings for our clients.
  • You have a knack for spotting potential tax errors when reviewing clients’ accounting systems.
  • You have a general enthusiasm and curiosity for the field of public accounting, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and dive in.
To be considered you’ll need:
  • 1-3 years of individual, partnership, and corporate tax experience in public accounting, preferably with a mid- to large-size firm during several busy seasons
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field (or an Associate's degree if you are an Enrolled Agent or Licensed Tax Preparer)
  • CPA or eligible to take CPA exam, preferred
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
  • Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for various clients, including high net worth individuals, partnerships/LLCs, corporations, estates, and trusts in a fast paced-environment.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Prepare workpapers, working trial balance, and year-end adjusting entries.
  • Assist with client bookkeeping and/or accounting needs.
  • Identify tax issues and propose strategies to resolve them.
Who We Are Looking For:
  • Basic level of knowledge about tax preparation, tax laws, accounting, and bookkeeping, with a strong drive to stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws, and be a resource for clients and the firm.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe, QuickBooks/Xero, digital workload management, and tax preparation software (CCH Axcess or ProSystem preferred but not required) – and comfortable learning new software programs.
  • Ability to efficiently balance multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, and eager to learn new tasks and take on new projects.
  • Willingness to take initiatives on projects, ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as collaborate and assist colleagues.
  • Ability to complete work accurately, with strong attention to detail, and in a timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional service to every client through clear communication, individual attention, and responsiveness.
  • Positive attitude and open to feedback necessary for continued growth and development.
  • Willingness to work the hours needed in peak busy season, especially nearing deadlines.
Why Us:We are as passionate about our employees as we are our clients, offering the camaraderie of a smaller firm with the strong professional support and flexibility that larger firms offer. We provide excellent benefits, a strong compensation package, and a focus on fostering a culture of appreciation and teamwork. We have an eye on growth, but a desire to maintain the small team feeling that puts people first.
Salary:Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
Benefits:
  • Health insurance, including dental and vision
  • 401K, with employer match
  • Paid holidays, including the day after the tax deadline, PTO and sick time
  • Professional development assistance
  • Friendly work environment with professional team
Location:In office position (some hybrid work available outside of busy season)

Company DescriptionAt Twenty20 Tax and Consulting, we are as passionate about our employees as we are our clients. We believe in building a team that respects, counts on, and enjoys working together. We look for fun people who embrace a challenge and care about the client. We think big and feel small. We seek candidates who’ve worked in larger CPA firms and know how to buckle up for the busy season and dive into challenging projects with finesse, but who are looking for a greater sense of purpose than just being a cog in the wheel. People who believe that getting to know the clients and their needs will benefit both the client and the firm. Innovative people who like to share their ideas for improvement, whether it’s related to benefitting a client’s bottom line, creating firm efficiencies, or simply shaking up the snacks stocked in the break room.
