Job Summary:

As a member of the Twin Cities Anesthesia medical staff, and in collaboration with the Twin Cities Pain Clinic Medical Director and RN Practice Administrator, the CRNA shall be responsible for all anesthesia-related activities as follows:

  • In collaboration with the Twin Cities Surgery Center and Burnsville Surgery Center management, establishes the type and scope of anesthesia services required to meet the needs of patients and the surgery center.
  • Manages patients’ airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation and extubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, and respiratory therapy.
  • Selects, prepares, or uses equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics.
  • Selects, orders, and administers anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids or blood products.
  • Performs pre-anesthetic screenings including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and documents results. Monitors patients’ responses including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
  • Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Develops anesthesia care plans.
  • Obtains informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures.
  • Assesses patients’ medical histories to predict anesthesia response.
  • Performs or manages regional anesthetic techniques such as local, spinal, epidural, caudal, nerve blocks and intravenous blocks.
  • Evaluates patients’ post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur. Administers post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients’ cardiovascular systems.
  • Discharges patients from post-anesthesia care.
  • Reads literature, talks with colleagues, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing.

Supervisory Responsibility:

There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a program approved by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs.
  • 5 – 10 years of previous independent CRNA experience required.
  • Previous leadership or management experience required.
  • Licensing and Certification:

- Current Minnesota Registered Nurse License

- Current certification through the National Board on Certification and Re-Certification of Nurse Anesthetists with compliance with all continuing education requirements

- Additional certification to include BLS and ACLS

 Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to active participation in shared accountability and decision making for the continuous improvement of the surgery center’s department of nurse anesthesia.
  • Additional certification and continuing education as needed to maintain proficiency in current, scientifically based, nurse anesthesia practice.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of computers and electronic medical record documentation.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in medical surgery center settings in Edina and Burnsville, MN.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk, hear and smell. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation & Work Schedule:

  • 1099: $1600/day
  • Part-Time: 8-40 hours/week
  • Day Shift: Monday – Friday
  • No evenings, weekends, or holidays
