Twin Cities Rise is Hiring a Finance Director Near Minneapolis, MN

Twin Cities R!SE is seeking a passionate and experienced Finance Director to lead our financial operations and provide strategic guidance. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our organization.

JOB PURPOSE:
The Finance Director works closely with the President/CEO and the Leadership Team to manage the financial functions of the organization. The Finance Director is responsible for the overall financial leadership of the organization including: budget development and monitoring; grant compliance; accounting and payroll functions; investment and cash management; coordination and completion of the annual audit and Form 990 preparation in compliance with the generally accepted accounting practices and policies of Twin Cities R!SE. This role works closely with staff at all levels of the organization, as well as program participants.
The Finance Director position is benefits eligible and entails a minimum commitment of 32 hours per week, and flexible up to 40 hours per week.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Financial Leadership & Oversight:
    • Oversee all aspects of the finance/accounting department, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, financial reporting, and budgeting.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial management strategy aligned with the organization's mission and strategic plan.
    • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
    • Manage and maintain strong internal controls and risk management practices.
    • Oversee the annual audit process and build relationships with external auditors.
  • Strategic Planning & Analysis:
    • Partner with the CEO/President and senior leadership team to develop a sound annual budget and participate in strategic planning discussions.
    • Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.
    • Provide financial insights and forecasts to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Grant Management:
    • Oversee financial management of grants, ensuring compliance with grant regulations and donor restrictions.
    • Develop and maintain systems for effective grant budgeting, reporting, and tracking.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and mentor the finance team (currently one team member), fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
    • Recruit, hire, and develop talented accounting staff.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Clearly communicate complex financial information to the Board of Directors, CEO/President, staff, and donors.
    • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a senior finance role.
  • Proven track record of financial leadership, strategic planning, and successful budget management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Understanding of non-profit accounting principles and GAAP.
  • A passion for our organization's mission and a commitment to the nonprofit sector.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in a senior finance role within a nonprofit or government organization.
  • Experience with Salesforce software integrations.
  • Subject matter expert in non-profit accounting principles and GAAP.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Twin Cities R!SE offers competitive compensation commensurate with background and experience. This is a 32-40 hour per week position with a salary range for the Finance Director from $90,000 to $115,000 annually.
