Twinsburg City School District is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Twinsburg, OH

Title: DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Reports to: Superintendent
Description: Direct and organize certificated/licensed and classified personnel recruitment and hiring; provide in-service training and staff development for certificated/licensed and classified personnel in conjunction with the Director of Business Services and the Director of Curriculum; direct the district’s Local Professional Development; manage the teamwork between the associations (TEA & TSSA) and the administration and Board of Education through negotiations and day-to-day interactions, including disciplinary matters.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of administrative experience.
  • Superintendent’s License.
  • Trained in ALICE school safety process.
  • Certified OPES/OTES evaluator
  • Documented evidence of a clear criminal record (FBI and BCI).
  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities:The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.
  • Ensure safety of students.
  • Participate as an active member of the management team.
  • Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy.
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., personnel information.
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents.
  • Assists the Superintendent in managing social media.
  • Promote good public relations.
  • Assist the Superintendent in a staff and community public relations program.
  • Supervise all certified/licensed staff.
  • Supervise all classified staff.
  • Interview and perform background checks on candidates for vacancies.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Treasurer/CFO in preparing the annual budget.
  • Assist with the assimilation of information necessary to complete local, state and federal reports.
  • Assist with policy manual and related document updates annually or as required.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of staff development programs.
  • Observe and monitor the progress of all staff members new to the district.
  • Plan appropriate orientation programs for new staff members.
  • Assist the Superintendent in the implementation of the district’s strategic plan.
  • Attend Board of Education meetings and prepare and present reports for the Board as requested by the Superintendent.
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., Board of Education Executive Session discussions, personnel information, negotiations information, and drug testing information.
  • Work with the Superintendent in the recruitment, selection for recommendation, and evaluation of administrative, certificated and classified personnel.
  • Coordinate and monitor the acquisition and renewal of ODE pupil activity permits.
  • Oversees EMIS.
  • Administer employee/substitute use (AESOP).
  • Coordinate and direct the substitute teacher program.
  • Serve as the Superintendent's Designee for suspension appeal hearings/complaints.
  • Act as liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer and other community agencies and groups having interest in the schools as directed by the Superintendent.
  • Assist in labor negotiations.
  • Administer the TEA/teachers and TSSA/classified negotiated agreements.
  • Serve on and, if needed, lead the LPDC, Master Teacher Committee, and District Labor Management Relations Committees.
  • Administer FMLA and other leaves of absence.
  • Administer employee benefit programs.
  • Serve as a role model for students.
  • Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner.
  • Implement technology to increase the District’s efficiency
  • Address concerns of student residency and truancy, if needed.
  • Oversees the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Oversees student registration.
  • Oversees and evaluates student attendance procedures (HB410).
  • Serves as the District’s Anti-Harassment Grievance Officer.
  • Serves as the District’s 504/ADA Compliance Officer.
  • Serves as the District’s Civil Rights Coordinator.
  • Assume the duties of the Superintendent in his/her absence, if so assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Working Conditions:Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
  • Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
  • Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly individuals.
  • Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes.
  • Potential for exposure to danger in emergency situations (fire, intruder, etc.)
  • Duties may require operating and/or riding in a vehicle.
  • Duties may require prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor.
  • Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Frequent weekend/evening/summer work.
  • Frequent requirement to travel throughout the District.
