Job Details
Summary
The IT Business Intelligence Developer role is focused on delivering technical data solutions for Columbia's business stakeholders. As one of the key contacts between Information Technology (IT) and the business stakeholders, this highly visible role will require strong partnership with the business groups, project team members and outside vendors.
Your experience in business analysis, design, coding, and agile software development lifecycles will be critical to create, maintain and enhance the data management strategy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and business expertise and lead discussions and facilitate meetings to elicit requirements and thoroughly understand business needs and issues
  • Participate in the design and development of enterprise-wide solutions and data repositories
  • Consult with end users to refine and enhance existing Business Intelligence and Data Analytics solutions
  • Define and implement overall ELT and ETL architecture including key designs on integration standards such as loading, streaming/near real time/batch, CDC, data validation, parallelization, etc.
  • Participate in large-scale database migration, and acquisition projects
  • Develop multi-dimensional models, as well as extract, transformation, and load (ETL) processes to convert operational transactional data into dimensions and fact tables
  • Schedule and coordinate infrastructure maintenance activities such as hardware and software upgrades and maintenance
  • Build and maintain positive business relationships with business users, management, and other technical groups across the organization
  • Proficient in Columbia Distributing's business processes and applications within an area of expertise (e.g. Financials, Operations, Sales)

  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management in a clear and professional manner; verbally and written, solid documentation and communication skills are an important success factor for this role as you will focus mainly on Supply Chain Management at Columbia Distributing and will support all aspects of data warehouse management
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and analytical skills to meet changing business needs
  • Results oriented, ability to work independently, and work cross functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise designing, building, securing, and deploying, and processing Tabular and Multi-dimensional models, including Tabular Model experience designing for self-service

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days/hours of work vary and may include weekends as necessary.
Travel
May be required to travel monthly up to 15% of the time.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with SQL Server database systems including complex warehouse design, experience with designing ETL extracts from various data sources
  • Minimum of 2 years Microsoft BI Stack (SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, Power Pivot, etc.), including development of reports (RDLs, complex stored procedures, subscriptions, ETL packages using SSIS T-SQL queries)
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience analyzing, recommending tuning steps, and implementing performance enhancements to optimize data model, data architecture, and business intelligence performance
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of Power BI and other Microsoft Power Platforms like Power Apps/Power Automate (development and administration)
  • Experience working with Azure Analysis Services, Dataflow, Power BI Embedded, Power BI Rest APIs
