About You

As the Communications Specialist for the TASB Risk Management Fund, you will be responsible for creating communications that promote the Fund and its services to current and prospective members. You have a strategic marketing mindset and can offer a unique insight into how we can best serve our members needs through various communication channels, including but not limited to online materials, blogs, web pages, social media, interviews, videos, and more. You will also assist in the development and execution of training programs and onsite events. This is an Austin-based hybrid position. The successful candidate will be required to work at our TASB headquarters two days a week. 

A Typical Day 

  • Develop new materials to communication directly with both staff and Fund members to market Risk Management services.
  • Create and maintain an active social media presence.
  • Work with subject matter experts to create and expand training resources.
  • Assist team and division with marketing and promotional strategies. 
  • Monitor and analyze data to optimize and enhance the Fund’s presence.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop and execute various events (in person and digital) with Communications team.
  • Identify methods for increasing member use of online resources and improve usability and search capabilities.
  • Conduct research and interviews to write articles for publications.
  • Work collaboratively with TASB Communications on marketing strategy and new initiatives. 
  • Work with other external communication staff to design advertising, graphics, videos, and web presence. 
  • Participate in professional development activities to develop knowledge in areas of marketing, communications, and web content. 

Skills For Success

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field. 
  • Three years' experience in marketing and/or promotions, must include content creation. 
  • Preferred experience with graphic and/or video design. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrates project management skills and experience working with various departments. 
  • Strong technology skills in website management and use of content management software. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and attention to detail skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also displaying independence and initiative. 
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with work processing, Web publishing, and presentation software.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines.
