Overview

Responsible for general supervision of all phase of 2nd shift plant operations including production, quality control, maintenance, and shipping. Work closely with the production team to increase productivity and communication with the manufacturing operation. Maintain employee discipline, good housekeeping and all safety, environmental and quality standards. Ensure team members are trained in respective roles.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

    Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Management Program. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
  • Ensure seamless communication regarding scheduling and priorities is made with the 1st shift managers.
  • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
  • Coordinate the training of 2nd shift team members.
  • Monitor processes, quality of work, efficiencies, and output.
  • Observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to 2nd shift team members.
  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Create a working environment where employees are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Foster an environment where employee involvement and process control are the tools utilized to promote continuous improvement in quality and production.
  • Provide direction and leadership to production supervisor, leads, and team members.
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specification of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products to meet specifications.
  • Compile, store and retrieve production data.
  • Review production and operation reports and resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Directly manage production leaders within a department producing ductile iron waterworks fittings. Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, problem solving, and people skills required.
  • Knowledge of mechanical concepts and demonstrates ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Proven work experience supervising multi-disciplined teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials.
  • The work environment is varied from a typical office setting to a plant environment that may be hot, cold, dusty, and noisy. It is a requirement to be in and out of the plant on a regular basis. As necessary, must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
