Responsibilities & Qualifications:

As a Resident Engineer, you will be our ambassador at project sites, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision. Your mission is to oversee construction work, making sure it aligns seamlessly with plans and specifications. You'll work independently on structures construction items while collaborating closely with the Project Manager and other site representatives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Field Expertise: Conduct thorough inspections of all falsework elements. Ensure that project specifications are faithfully executed, and plans are brought to life with meticulous attention to detail. Prepare detailed cost estimates for various project activities, contributing to cost-effective solutions.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Keep everyone in the loop by providing written progress reports, technical insights, and addressing special issues promptly. Work hand-in-hand with contractors to coordinate tasks and ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Financial Oversight and Documentation: Manage project documentation, ensuring that contract compliance is maintained at all times. Review contractor pay estimates and submittals with a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Leadership: Be a mentor and trainer, shaping the next generation of construction professionals. Lead field inspection and support staff, sharing your expertise and fostering growth.
  • Safety Advocate: Uphold and enforce construction safety rules and regulations for a secure work environment.

The Qualification We Seek Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely-related field.
  • P.E. license required and at least 10 years of experience in with the concepts and practices with complex bridge construction.
  • Previous experience as a Structures Representative on at least two bridge projects with a minimum construction value of $20 million.
  • Strong ability to write effective and concise reviews comments, and reports.
  • Must be able to communicate and liaise well with Contractors and other team members to effectively resolve field issues.
  • Previous construction management experience for Caltrans projects, or projects that had Caltrans oversight, is strongly preferred.
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.
  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.

Additional Information:

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $117,300 - $175,900 annually for this position and local market.
