Job Description
  • Serve as an Equipment Specialist, IT-Radio Logistics Assistance Representative (LAR).
  • Provide expert technical advice and instruction to users and maintainers of Military and Commercial Communications HF/VHF/UHF Radio Systems and associated software as well as Intercoms and subordinate systems.
  • Monitor techniques and procedures, evaluate performance, determine future training needs and troubleshoot problems.
  • Identify problems in design of equipment in order to recommend design changes.
  • Utilize knowledge of design and manufacture of equipment to advise military personnel in operations and maintenance procedures on a wide variety of communications/electronic equipment and systems.
  • Investigate trends in areas such as maintenance, supply, and training issues in order to recommend solutions.
  • Review items such as the condition, stock levels, usage of repair parts and end items to recommend the appropriate path forward.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) performing maintenance and repair procedures on radio systems such as Military and Commercial Communications HF/VHF/UHF Radio Systems and associated software as well as Intercoms and subordinate systems to assist in the resolution of equipment failures; (2) drafting reports covering various areas to identify maintenance trends such as maintenance problems and the cause for unusual downtime for higher level review; AND (3) reviewing problems in the design of equipment such as Military and Commercial Communications HF/VHF/UHF Radio Systems and associated software as well as Intercoms and subordinate systems to propose changes in materials used or maintenance required. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Problem Solving Product Test and Evaluation Quality Management
