U.S. Army Sustainment Command is Hiring a Transportation Assistant (Personal Property). Near Fort Belvoir, VA
- Determine and/or advise entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances; prohibited items; and shipment of personal property including various methods available.
- Provide information and/or advice to military and civilian personnel regarding their entitlements for shipment and storage of personal property.
- Receive, review, and/or process correspondence, orders, and applications to move property from residence and non-temporary storage.
- Forward appropriate advance documents to other transportation offices for movement of property both overseas and within the continental United States.
- Determine the most efficient and economical rates and routes for shipment and/or storage of household goods, unaccompanied baggage, personal effects, and/or mobile homes.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Determining and/or advising on personal property entitlements such as shipment storage of personal baggage, household goods, firearms, and/or personally owned vehicles; and 2) Determining and/or advising on liabilities, claims, and/or protection of personal property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
