U.S. Census Bureau is Hiring a Supply Technician (OA) Near Jeffersonville, IN

Duties
This job opportunity is for a Supply Technician position in the Warehousing and Packing Unit, Warehousing and Transportation Section, Support Services Branch (SSB) at the National Processing Center (NPC), U.S. Bureau of the Census located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The function of the section is to provide a variety of services including warehousing, transportation, shipping and receiving, fork-lifting, laboring, supplying, controlling forms and expendables, and property management. This position is included in the bargaining unit.
The Individual Selected For This Position Will
  • Update, maintain, and receive information in the Automated Simplified Procurement Request System, maintain files on each purchase to provide funding information, vendor delivery dates, and various status reports.
  • Perform a variety of office tasks associated with the National Processing Center and the Regional Census Offices purchases; processing/completing purchase orders, print orders, fed-strips, bank cards and supply requests.
  • Prepare and maintain logs and records to account for all receipts and issues of expendable and non-expendable items for NPC; utilizing available computer software packages via the network or customized programs such as ESPS within CBS, Word, and Outlook electronic mail.
  • Work with inventory control personnel and shipping personnel to resolve receipt and delivery problems or discrepancies.
  • Receive incoming correspondence, screen material prior to distribution for suspense dates, establish controls, and follow up for supervisor.
Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, hours between 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) is available. Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) is an 80- hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. Various flexible work schedules are available. Positions may include evening or weekend work, hours will vary. This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies.

Candidates may be required to clear the fingerprint process and initiate the required background investigation prior to final selection.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
QualificationsYou MUST have a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors based on a five-minute sample and one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience as listed below. You may meet the typing requirement by answering "Yes" to the online question regarding typing ability.
Specialized Experience: You qualify at the grade 05 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 04 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in supply support work such as receiving, storing, issuing, inventorying, and shipping orders, as well as updating an automated inventory system.
Education Substitution for Specialized Experience: Successful completion of 4 years of study above high school level in an accredited business or technical school, college, or university may be substituted for the specialized experience requirement. A transcript must be submitted by the closing date of this vacancy announcement to receive credit for educational substitution.
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet the specialized experience requirement.
Employees on a permanent appointment who were hired through a Recruiting Bulletin, who have not served in their current appointment for at least 90 days, are not eligible to apply. However, if this vacancy is in the same line of work as your current position (same qualification requirements), and selection for this position would not result in a promotion action the 90-day waiting period does not apply.
