  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work at times requires the incumbent to board Navy vessels for a period of 30 days or more.
  • Incumbent must pass an acoustic analysis and target motion analysis test.
  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement to accept relocation to other geographic locations if required by the employer.
QualificationsFOR GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: designing, developing, analyzing, and employing passive and active sonar training systems (such as course content, materials, technical accuracy) in support of training programs to include underwater acoustic modeling, acoustic analysis, target motion analysis, and range prediction systems (such as tactics, system operations, capabilities, limitations, operating guidelines, doctrine, acoustic operations plan) to achieve certification standards and improve at sea performance.FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Gs-11
  • Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or
  • Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or
  • Successful completion of an LL.M., if related
