IT Manager

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000

Reports to: COO

About Us:

U.S. Light Energy is searching for an IT Manager to join our New York team working out of our office in Latham, NY. U.S. Light Energy is a growing and dynamic company in the solar renewable energy industry, focused on Community Solar throughout the United States. We believe that everyone should have access to clean, renewable energy, and the most equitable way to achieve that is through human-scaled Community Solar projects that meet a community's energy and climate goals at the local level. We have more than 550MWs of New York Community Solar projects in development and are currently building out these projects and actively adding additional generation capacity.

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented IT Manager to join our team. The IT Manager will play a key role in supporting our business operations by making system efficiency improvement recommendations, participating in strategic business development discussions, ensuring all systems remain operational, and providing help desk support when necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for renewable energy.

Essential functions:

  • Manage and oversee all IT-related functions for a 20 person company (comprised of onsite and remote employees), including hardware, software, and network management.
  • Administer relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and other vendors to ensure seamless IT operations.
  • Oversee the purchasing, setup, and maintenance of IT equipment, including workstations, video conferencing systems, and phone systems.
  • Coordinate with phone vendors and other service providers for troubleshooting and maintaining communication systems.
  • Ensure security compliance and manage regular security audits with IT vendors.
  • Facilitate the adoption and management of Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Power Automate within the organization.
  • Provide direct support to staff, addressing IT issues and ensuring optimal operation of all IT systems.
  • Document IT policies, processes, and inventory management, and lead IT project coordination.

Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT management or a related role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products including SharePoint, familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals, CompTIA Network ) are a plus.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Required education and experience:

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT management or a related role.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the adeptness to distil complex technical jargon for diverse audiences.
  • Detail-Oriented Approach: Unparalleled attention to detail and organizational skills, complemented by the capacity to manage time effectively across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft products on both Windows and MAC platforms including SharePoint, familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Work Ethic: An autonomous and collaborative working style, capable of thriving in a dynamic environment, balancing a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
