U.S. Travel Association is Hiring a Research Analyst Near Washington, DC

U.S. Travel Association is the national, non-profit organization representing all components of the U.S. travel industry—a key contributor to America’s economic success. Our mission is to increase travel to and within the United States, and in doing so, fuel our nation’s economy and future growth.
We are seeking a skilled Research Analyst with strong experience and skills in data analysis to join our team. Candidates should be prepared to work with a growing research team to support the organization’s strategies and goals through data analysis and insights. This role requires regular and accurate collection and analysis of a wide range of data, including economic data, quantitative and qualitative survey results, and measures of the U.S. travel economy. Continuous improvements and updates to methodology and analysis processes will be expected.
The role also requires the ability to develop insights on research findings, collaborate with communications, policy, and membership teams, and effectively communicate with internal and external colleagues and partners.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to work effectively in team environments, consistently complete tasks and projects in a timely fashion, and quickly adapt to evolving challenges and organizational needs.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct quantitative research and analysis on travel industry trends, policy impacts, and factors affecting the travel industry.
  • Develop and implement data collection methodologies and processes to gather relevant information for analysis
  • Create and maintain databases of research results, trend data, findings, and analysis
  • Generate reports, presentations, and data visualizations on both periodic and ad-hoc basis to communicate research insights effectively
  • Work with policy and communications teams to support advocacy positions with appropriate data and findings
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, computational methods, and best practices in data analysis and policy research

Education, Experience And Skills
  • BA/BS in computer science, economics, or related quantitative subjects
  • 3 to 5 years experience in research or related role, or other equivalent experience
  • Excellent quantitative and analytic skills
  • Willingness to learn industry specifics and targeted research tools
  • Experience in data preparation, interpretation and reporting visualizations
  • Proficiency in Excel analytic tools as well as experience with database software and standard office tools
  • Experience with SPSS, R, Python or similar data analysis tools preferred

  • Position based in Washington, D.C. U.S. Travel staff work in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Moderate travel (up to 2-3 times per month) is required.
