As an Engineer supporting our Research and Development Engineering Team, you will be trusted with helping to develop and maintain equipment for crafting new contact lens products at our manufacturing site in Johns Creek, GA. In this role, a typical day will include: Assuring that there is a safe and orderly work environment and compliance with corporate rules and regulations Completing tasks efficiently and working together with other departments to achieve common and overarching project goals (e.g. landmark, budget, etc.) Developing the hands-on knowledge and understanding to provide Engineering feedback in the implementation of new technology from laboratory to industrial-scale manufacturing Applying technical methods to optimize processes and sustainably improving product quality and process yields and adapting these improvements for increased scale implementation for future development Supporting the generation and modification of required technical documents including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions per GMP guidelines Communicating and coordinating with internal/external vendors during the implementation, commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and optimization of equipment Updating, modifying, and accomplishing Job Aids scheduled in CMMS system (Maximo) Troubleshooting and correcting issues related to sophisticated production equipment used in the contact lens development/manufacturing process Maintaining equipment and preventive maintenance records Support developing, crafting, installing, commissioning, qualifying, validating, and optimizing ocular health laboratory and manufacturing equipment in compliance with Good Practice (GxP) procedures Having a positive demeanor with good interpersonal skills and being capable of supporting an excellent team environment WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school 8 yrs; Assoc. 4 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English Travel Requirements: Up to 10% Sponsorship & Relocation Not Available PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or related majors Experience in installation and commissioning of production equipment as well as production operations PLC programming (Beckoff Preferred) Excellent organizational and time management skills HOW TO THRIVE AT ALCON: Collaborate with teammates to share standard processes and findings as work evolves.
