ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

UC San Diego is hiring a temporary HR Generalist/Assistant to support the campus operations for the 2023 - 2024 School Year.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last 5 months

Compensation: $29.60 - 32.00/hour. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Location: Hybrid position - On site Monday and Wednesday

DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision, applies professional HR concepts, policies and procedures in the completion of HR assignments that are of limited scope and impact.

• Receives instructions on most work assignments, and regularly consults with Finance & HR Analyst in the course of completing increasingly complex assignments.

• Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing HR situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Exercises some judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

• Coordinate the timely completion of the Hiring and Onboarding processes for staff and student employees.

• Support hiring supervisors through the process and ensure timely completion of each activity.

• Monitor on-going compliance to mandatory training and follow-up as requested. Under guidance of the Director of Finance/HR, the incumbent will support the organization of personnel files and shared electronic drives.

• Serve as back-up in the department timekeeping processes including monthly and bi-weekly timekeeping processing.

• Assist the Director of Finance/HR and the Finance & HR Analyst in tracking completion of employee performance appraisals, and follow up as needed with department supervisors and leadership. Assist the Business Office with creation of purchase requisitions and invoice processing.

• Review and upload recharge requests into the RMP system.

• Support new hire processing for staff and student appointments, as well as coordinate UCPath processing for extensions, accrual updates, terminations, FLSA updates, contingent worker appointment management, and other staff and/or student related UCPath actions in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

• HR Knowledge is required. UC experience is preferred, but not required.

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
