DESCRIPTION

The Manager of Medical Staff Administration, reporting to the Director, supports the Medical Staff credentialing functions for UC San Diego Health. The manager directly supervises the medical staff administration team including recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, disciplining, and terminating the credentialing staff when necessary. The manager has responsibility for monitoring productivity of credentialing and privileging processes, launching/sponsoring improvement initiatives, sustaining results for UC San Diego Health and UC San Diego Medical Group credentialing and maintaining compliance with external regulatory agencies. This position actively collaborates with and provides functional expertise/knowledge to the Chairs of the Credentials Committee, Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IPC), the Physicians' Wellbeing Committee (PWBC), the Medical Staff Professionalism Committee (MSPC), the Chief Medical Officers, President of the Medical Staff/Medical Staff Executive Committee Chair, Department Chairs, Service Chiefs, and Medical Staff Leadership on matters pertaining to privileges, credentialing and other sensitive/confidential matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).
  • Experience and proven success in external regulations, credentialing best practices, and clinical operations.
  • Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).
  • Experience with MSOW credentialing and privileging software.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.73 - $81.75

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
