The focus of this position will be to serve as the primary technical point of contact for medium to large sized proposals for existing and prospective customers, with an emphasis on proposals in the utility and industrial Wastewater Treatment markets. This position serves as contract engineer and liaison between UCC Environmental sales representatives, Project Management & Contract Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sales Managers in developing technical solutions for customers, generating cost estimates, creating proposal packages, and following up on project opportunities.

This position serves as contract engineer and liaison between UCC Environmental sales representatives, Project Management & Contract Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sales Managers in developing technical solutions for customers, generating cost estimates, creating proposal packages, and following up on project opportunities.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Work with Sales Managers and Supervisor to determine sales strategy, equipment/system requirements, perform preliminary design calculations, create preliminary flow diagrams, and interface with other UCC Environmental groups as necessary.
- Prepare accurate equipment and engineering cost estimates for projects, and review estimates with Sales Manager and Supervisor as necessary, prior to proposal submittal.
- Prepare proposal documents using standard UCC Environmental formats, ensuring accuracy of information, professional presentation of offering, effectiveness of submittal, and adherence to UCC Environmental commercial and technical guidelines.
- Work directly with clients and sales representatives to define customer needs and recommend viable solutions. Visit customer’s sites to support proposal activity.
- Maintain customer contact after the proposal is submitted, providing follow-up responses and additional information as necessary during the customer’s evaluation process.
- Communicate project award information to the organization in a timely manner following UCC Environmental formatting and internal standards.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate UCC Environmental core values.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (chemical or environmental is preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales involving custom-engineered equipment or systems.
- Experience in heavy industry (e.g., mining, petrochemical, steel) or electric power culture, with knowledge of contract development cycle, including equipment and engineering cost estimating.
- A track record of revenue and sales growth.
- Experience with and technical knowledge of systems related to:
- wastewater treatment
- water or slurry pumping
- solids dewatering/ash pond remediation
- chemical injection (pH adjustment, flocculants, etc.)
- Process driven and customer satisfaction motivated.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work within a team, and to delegate tasks when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint) or related software.
- Proficient with AutoCAD software.
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer for 80% of the day
- Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders
