Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Staff Research Associate will support research in the areas of developmental and stem cell biology. Responsibilities include cell culture of mammalian cell lines including human fibroblasts and human pluripotent stem cells. The candidate will assess the epigenetic state of human induced pluripotent stem cell lines through imaging and genomics approaches. The work will also involve basic molecular biology approaches such as cloning of plasmids, preparation of buffers and solutions, RT-PCR, immunostaining, RNA FISH, immunostaining and immunoblotting, and the keeping of weekly summaries of experiments and cell lines. The work will also involve live cell imaging, the generation of modified induced pluripotent stem cell lines and genomics analyses such as DNA methylation mapping. The incumbent will be required to coordinate and work together as a team with undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and project scientists. Experience in cell culture. particularly human pluripotent stem cell cultures, methods like RNA FISH and imaging, are essential. The incumbent will work with the lab personnel on other tasks as needed.

Salary: $25.75 - $30.71 hourly

REQUIRED:

* Knowledge of cell culture, including human pluripotent stem cell cultures, immunostaining, RNA FISH, image analysis is highly desirable.

* Ability to perform basic technical duties such as logging in reagents and data analyses.

* Knowledge of PC computers, spreadsheet and word processing programs.

* Working skills with basic molecular biology laboratory equipment.

* Previous experience working in a laboratory setting and conducting research.

* Ability to perform several tasks at once, communicate clearly and work in a team environment. Ability to learn new methods and protocols.

* Must be responsible and able to work independently, without close supervision.

PREFERRED:

* BS in Molecular Biology or related field.

* General knowledge of cell and molecular biology.

* Previous experience in managing basic laboratory safety protocols highly desirable.

* Ability to organize many cell lines and manage a large number of data collection points.
