Department Summary
Enterprise Data & Analytics leads campus-wide enterprise data and analytics including data governance, architecture, data and application integration, database administration, and business intelligence such as reporting and analytics. This team sets the tone for UCLA's data culture, further ingraining data usage into the university's ways of working. The Enterprise Data & Analytics team manages the technology, processes, and support needed to equip university stakeholders with thorough, secure, and accessible data. The Reporting & Analytics team drives data-driven decision making at UCLA by providing delivering advanced data analytics, learning analytics, data modeling, automation, reporting and dashboarding, and other business intelligence solutions.
Position Summary
The Business Systems Analyst, Reporting & Analytics will collect and analyze relevant data from various campus data sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and other data repositories. They will identify trends, patterns, and insights within the data to support university decision-making. This individual will analyze and develop practices, processes, and procedures related to data sets, data reporting, and data analysis. They will conduct research and provide insights that enable the core data reporting and dashboarding functions for the university. This Business Systems Analyst will collaborate with stakeholders, such as faculty, staff, and student users and technical teams, to understand their reporting and analytics needs. They will elicit and document requirements to ensure that the data reports and analyses align with business objectives. The Business Analyst, Reporting & Analytics will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage data and insights in service of the institution's academic mission. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.

Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

Three years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, data services, application services, IT service management, or related field. (Required)

Experience utilizing analytics tools to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making. (Required)

Experience conducting or facilitating requirements gathering interviews or sessions. (Required)

Experience supporting the development of test strategies and plans using widely accepted test methodologies or frameworks. (Required)

Five or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, data services, application services, IT service management. (Preferred)

Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university (Preferred)

Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture. Familiarity with one or more of the following tools: Tableau, IBM Cognos, IBM Cognos TM1, Oracle Reporting, or similar. (Required)

Proficient in data visualization and analytics, with design experience using business intelligence. (Required)

Proven record of delivering end-to-end, user-centered processes by considering stakeholder requirements, user research, market analysis, data, customer feedback, and technical constraints or opportunities. (Required)

Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. (Required)

Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required)

Strong organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. Ability to work in a project-based environment using project management practices. (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

• This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).
