This posting is for a Senior Policy Analyst that will primarily serve as the coordinator of the Academic Program Review process (see https://senate.ucla.edu/program-review) and provide analytical and administrative support to the Academic Program Review Committee (see https://senate.ucla.edu/academic-program-review-committee-aprc). This position will appeal to candidates with an interest in project management, events planning, and academic policy who enjoy a high-paced, collaborative environment with periods of intensive interaction with faculty, staff, and students. Strong skills in communication, diplomacy, and confidentiality are important. This is a hybrid position that requires some in-person work, particularly during site visits and committee meetings.

  • Skill in research and data acquisition to gather data and conduct administrative analysis.
  • Skill in interacting diplomatically with faculty, staff, students and administrative offices, assuring confidentiality of sensitive documents, communicating established policies, and recommending changes when appropriate, with an ability to maintain equanimity.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and administrative officers to ensure the smooth administration of the work of assigned committees and the Academic Senate as a whole.
  • Skill in analyzing information and data to deal with problems, policy and procedures, and Senate operations to formulate logical and objective conclusions and make recommendations for effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated skills to draft accurate and clear written materials using logical arguments, appropriate facts and data, and a professional style.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure to manage workflow. Ability to answer questions, solve problems and make sound recommendations.
  • Demonstrated skill and ability in designing and maintaining computer-generated spreadsheets, databases, and word-processing programs for storing information and generating administrative reports.
  • Ability to adapt to annually changing Senate committee chairs and members, as well as Senate officers. Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment with conflicting agendas, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Skill in independently coordinating an extensive and varied workload with multiple deadlines, and modifying or adapting office procedures to optimize effort and use of time and materials.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures of the University.
