UCP of Central Florida is Hiring a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Charter School Near Orlando, FL

Looking to make a difference as a pediatric physical, occupational or speech language therapist? UCP of Central Florida provides pediatric therapy at two settings charter schools and medical/out-patient. Charter Schools are a network of 8 PreK-12th grade schools for students with and without disabilities in Central Florida. Therapy is provided as part of a multi-discipline team.
SummaryThe Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Charter School is a full-time (37.5 contact hours), school year position (190 days) and serves as part of the Campus Diagnostic Assessment and Individualized Education Plan (I.E.P.) Team. Provide individual diagnostic evaluation/ assessment services and deliver individual and group direct interventions for students referred in learning deficiencies and speech/language skills. Provide additional support, training, and guidance to the campus speech language therapy providers in the educational area. The work includes ensuring proper educational speech/language therapy delivery model implementation, executing, and monitoring of IEPS goals, and program compliance and quality management. Provide support and clinical expertise to teachers/education personnel, agency administrators, and staffing specialist in the area of speech/language disabilities, in collaboration with the speech therapy leadership team.

The work includes ensuring proper educational speech/language therapy delivery model implementation, executing, and monitoring of IEP’S goals, and program compliance and quality management. Provide support and clinical expertise to teachers/education personnel, agency administrators, and staffing specialist in the area of speech/language disabilities, in collaboration with the speech therapy leadership team.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic services to students
  • Identify potential Assistive Technology needs and collaborate with agency AAC Specialist/Speech Clinical Advisor
  • Present strategies and adapts lessons created by the teachers; provide recs for teachers.
  • Work in collaboration with school principal/ teachers /education personnel on an on-going basis
  • Meet/collaborate weekly during planning time to discuss lessons and individualized strategies for students
  • Assist with training for teachers/education personnel
  • Assist with training and monitoring interns, students, Speech Language Therapists, Speech Language Pathology Assistants, and others as assigned
  • Complete and submit accurate daily notes at the end of each session using UCP format
  • Provide and monitor student coverage. Ensure all students on his/her caseload receive services according to the frequency and duration on their IEP’s
  • Report accountability data according to agency guidelines. 75% of the therapist caseload should achieve 80% of their individual goals per year
  • Ensure compliance of UCP Confidentiality and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) guidelines for all client files and information in therapist caseload
  • Submit accurate and timely IEP reports, assistive technology paperwork, equipment recommendations
  • Recommend and generate and/or pursue assistive devices or equipment for individual students
  • Fulfill required Full Time Equivalent (F.T.E.) record-keeping responsibilities accurately and punctually
  • Attend professional growth activities, maintain current knowledge of trends, requirements, and special education legal and procedural developments
  • Demonstrate interpersonal effectiveness in interactions with school principal, campus and agency administrators, therapy team leadership, teachers/education personnel, other therapy providers and parents
  • Participate in student staffing, IEP team meetings, classroom team meetings, campus wide meetings and other meetings as assigned. Plan and present in-services, as needed.
  • Display competent knowledge, use, and interpretation of individual assessments, outcome measures, and diagnostic tests
  • Demonstrate adequate knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Maintain accurate files and paperwork for individual students referred, screened and evaluated, and other diagnostic team-provided data-based services
  • Develop care plans, goals, and treatment strategies according to the student’s needs and individualized educational plan (IEP)guidelines; maintains accurate documentation
  • Stay current with Section 504 guidelines, as modified by the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.)
  • Create home programs to assist with generalization of skills
  • Maintain Medicaid School Provider #.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education And Training
  • Master or Doctorate degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Active license from the Florida Department of Health Florida Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech/Language Hearing Association (or obtained within 1 year of at the agency)
Preferred Experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the field of Speech Language Pathology in varied clinical and/or educational settings with a broad background in school-based assessments/diagnostic and therapeutic practices.
  • New graduates will be considered
