Responsibilities

BlueHalo is seeking a Director of the Biotechnology and Data Engineering Dept., reporting to the Vice President of Health and Performance Technologies Division. The ideal candidate will be deeply entrenched in the AFRL/711th environment, with deep understanding of its unique culture, operations, and strategic objectives. Areas of technical focus for this department include chemistry, biochemistry, engineering (biomedical, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and advanced computational systems, including AI/ML. Broader focus is on developing systems for the protection of Airmen and Guardians, solving challenging technical problems by applying innovative approaches to improve human performance and environmental monitoring. Provide active management of technical and business operations teams within the department. Ensure compliance with contract requirements including deliverables, subcontracts, finance, and human resources while maintaining or optimizing benefit to our customers and to BlueHalo. Oversee and participate in technical activities of the department to ensure effective program execution and continuous process improvement. Identify needs and implement solutions to address customer requirements and set department priorities that align with BlueHalo and Division objectives.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Modeling/Advanced Computational Systems or similar is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience is preferred with a minimum of 5 years of government contract experience.
  • Expertise in executing multiple research projects/programs, complex programmatics for government contracts, and an understanding of business development. 
  • Minimum experience at Senior Scientist level, Principal Scientist preferred, in an applicable field of biotechnology or multi-functional materials with demonstrated mentoring experience and ability to contribute to hands-on research.
  • Track record of writing successful proposals for Federal funding and experience in Federal programs.
  • Experience fostering teams and partnerships with a broad range of collaborators.
  • Experience in Business Development with the government is preferred.
  • Experience developing partnerships across business units and corporate functions.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance and possibly Top-Secret level clearance.
  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship.
