UES, A BlueHalo Company is Hiring a Research Lead Engineer Near Beavercreek, OH

BlueHalo has an opportunity available for an experienced research professional specializing in the study of the effects of lasers and bright light on human eyes and the development of technologies to protect against these effects. We are currently seeking a skilled Engineer to lead and advance our optical characterization capabilities at Wright Patterson AFB, in Dayton OH and develop technical solutions suitable for transition to the warfighter.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Oversee the development and execution of optical characterizations tests utilizing in-depth knowledge of lasers, measurement techniques, and thorough documentation.
  • Lead a team of on-site and off-site technologists focused on development and demonstration of protective technologies.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of personnel and instruments/test beds to ensure timely completion of testing.
  • Oversee the organization and recording of experimental data. Utilize analytical tools to extract meaningful insights. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for team review.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise and guidance. Foster a collaborative environment for the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in handling Class 4 lasers and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Implement and promote a culture of safety within the testing environment.
  • Maintain detailed and meticulous records and ensure that all testing procedures are well-documented and accessible for future reference.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL YOU BRING

  • This position involves working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Electro-Optics, Human Physiology, or a related discipline and 8 years of experience. Or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Electro-Optics, Human Physiology, or a related discipline and 6 years. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in an optics laboratory setting.
  • Experience working with Class 4 lasers and other optical systems.
  • Proficiency in experimental design, setup, and execution.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis software.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain lab space and digital resources.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining comprehensive and accurate records.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a SECRET security clearance.
