Join the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas AmeriCorps VISTA Program. The Unified Government (UG) has made a commitment to civic innovation, job creation, economic development, and the health of Wyandotte County residents - and our members are contributing in big ways! Develop a robust approach to expanding and/or enhancing existing mobility informational resources to a virtual platform, such as YouTube, for internal and external content. Our goal is to implement an effective outreach program to bi-state community partners and effective training videos for onboarding staff.

The VISTA will serve in the Unified Government Transportation Department (UGT) to help implement the microlearning virtual program. The VISTA will support the UGT team efforts to develop this multi-year action plan and coordinate a strategy for engaging community partners and the public. The VISTA will help UGT be more effective in providing informational resources to the community and enhancing the coordination and shared vision of the organization's strategic goals to improve customer service and communication.

Member Activity: Develop materials to educate and help the community better understand UGT services, the needs of the community, what the Unified Government is doing in the community, and what opportunities/services are available to the community/citizens.

Member Activity: Develop micro learning virtual training videos for onboarding new staff members such as how to properly secure wheelchairs, safety awareness and protection, public customer service, Narcan training videos, and more.

Member Activity: Develop online videos for posting on the UGT website. Videos will be used for Public Hearing meetings and commission updates.

Our full-time, 12-month AmeriCorps VISTA positions could be right for you! Passion and general skills are needed, experience is not required; training and resources will be provided. VISTA members receive professional development and experience, but opportunities for future employment are not guaranteed. Multiple positions are available within the Unified Government’s AmeriCorps VISTA Program, and candidates may apply for more than one position.

Minimum qualifications:

• · Be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident
• · Willing to submit to and pass a national service background check
• · Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

AmeriCorps VISTA Member Compensation:

• · A living allowance of $877 (pre-tax) is provided every two weeks.
• · Upon completion of the 12-month term, CNCS provides a $6,895 Education Award for college loans or future education expenses. Those without loans or plans for future education can receive a smaller cash stipend of $1,800, in lieu of the Education Award.
