This Sterile Processing Technician opportunity is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. This individual will be responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of Instrumentation, supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Initiates case carts for Surgical Services. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. Able to accept new ideas and learn position duties. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Ensures proper operation of sterilizers (Steam, Ethylene Oxide and Sterrad units prior to use on a daily basis.
• Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of the day shift for both SPD and the OR. Records results in appropriate log.
• Inspects all sterilizers for visible signs of malfunction and reports to SPD Supervisor.
• Cleans and decontaminates all equipment and instruments using the proper tools and cleaning agents.

• High School graduate or equivalent.
