GIS SUBJECT MATTER SPECAILIST (PMFIRES)
Bowhead is seeking a Subject Matter Specialist to join our Marine Corp PM Fires contract in Stafford, VA. The Geographic I nformation Systems ( GIS) Subject Matter Specialist will conduct geospatial research, development, technology and evaluation of current and emerging geospatial technologies that will help characterize and measure phenomena within the physical (terrain) and social (cultural) environments. The GIS SME will act as the definitive source of knowledge who contribute their expertise to their niche and enhance organizational efficiency.
Responsibilities

• Support Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), Program Manager for Ammunition (PM AMMO), in its responsibility areas of general mission management, system safety, acquisition planning, ammunition safety, financial stewardship, logistics support, and data management.
• Work closely with the GIS user community to determine specific application requirements and specifications
• Supports the creation and maintenance of GIS products both printed and web-based solutions
• Perform complex analysis and mapping projects to support international security operations
• Communicate technical information to non-technical computer users, both orally and in writing
• Compile and enter various types of data into GIS databases
• Work independently to develop GIS tools and applications, perform complex analyses, and develop multi-layered maps accomplished by using an appropriate combination of tools found in the GIS application suite and other programming environments
• Provides expert support, analysis, research, and advice into exceptionally complex problems, and processes relating to the subject matter
• Serves as technical expert on executive-level project teams providing technical direction, interpretation, and alternatives.
• Coordinates with contract management and Government personnel to ensure the problems have been properly defined and the solutions satisfy customer needs
• Generates recommendations in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other major documents provided to senior level client personnel
• Writes and updates project documentation including system procedures, presentations, and training materials

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree preferred
• Has five to ten (5-10 ) years or more of relavent experience
• Must have an understanding of GIS and database fundamentals
• Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain and maintian a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
