Ultimate Staffing is Hiring a Human Resources Manager Near Hollister, CA

Ultimate Staffing is looking for an HR Manager to support a leading food processing company in Hollister Ca who prides themselves on providing a family inclusive culture. This is a direct hire onsite role with a target compensation of $110-120K.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Provides consultation and operational support to plant management, employees, and HR staff at assigned facility. Implements and manages Corporate HR policies, procedures, and programs, including recruitment, workforce planning and scheduling, timekeeping/payroll, employee relations, employee training, labor contract compliance, union relations, management support, and affirmative action.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers Corporate HR policies; provides consultation and services to site management and employees regarding HR strategies, HR operations, programs, systems, employee and labor relations, the collective bargaining agreement, and related HR compliance issues.
  • Supports Company initiatives in the design, communication and execution of strategic HR solutions to address issues and/or improve HR processes and systems.
  • Designs, communicates and executes site-specific solutions to address issues or improve processes including recruitment, retention, performance management, compensation, employee development/job qualification, and succession planning.
  • Works in partnership with site management and Corporate Human Resources to identify site-specific training needs. Utilizes internal and external training resources to address training within the facility and conduct training as necessary.
  • Responsible for programs such as Affirmative Action Plan compliance, coordinating the substance abuse prevention program, fitness for duty and supporting workers compensation program policies.
  • Responsible for the annual season staffing planning, orientation, ramp-up, execution and end-of-season activities.
  • Conducts and/or support investigations pertaining to employee concerns and complaints, accidents, and other issues, including the site open-door calls.
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with union representatives and administers the collective bargaining agreement. Assists with contract negotiations.
  • Administers hourly compensation, workforce layoff, recall and reductions, scheduling, and bidding in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and governmental requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge of legal requirements to ensure site-based policies, procedures and reporting requirements are in compliance with Corporate Human Resources and governmental requirements.
  • Coordinates, plans and leads new hire orientation, education and training for management and employees. Ensures timely and consistent delivery of training programs.
  • Manages and develops site HR staff; supervises activities of the site HR team.
  • Manages and coordinates workforce planning, including job postings and recruitment for site staffing needs.
  • Manages compensation and performance management programs to ensure equitable and consistent treatment of all employees.
  • Administers site hourly and salaried payroll and benefit programs coordinating with Corporate Human Resources as applicable.
  • Ensures employee records, performance reviews, disciplinary reports, corrective action plans, and other documents are prepared, processed and maintained in accordance with requirements.
  • Participates in budget development and management.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with environmental, safety, and employment and wage and hour rules and regulations.
  • May supervise environmental health & safety (EHS) staff and programs, including workers compensation.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and HR strategies.
  • Thorough knowledge of Corporate Human Resources programs, including compensation, wage and hour requirements, payroll and timekeeping, benefits, safety, training, records management, and workforce planning practices and principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of jobs associated with the manufacturing process.
  • Good knowledge of collective bargaining agreement administration.
  • Good knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of business principles and the plants manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of standard office administration protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent written and communication skills; bilingual English and Spanish required.
  • Proactive, resourceful and highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and follow-through in all areas of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in using HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Strong prioritization skills and ability to handle multiple projects at a time.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with site management and Corporate Human Resources teams.
  • Ability to effectively supervise assigned staff.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in HR, Industrial Relations, Business or related field.
  • 5 years Human Resources Generalist experience, preferably in a union environment.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • 3 years food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • EHS (environmental health & safety) program experience preferred but not required.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
  • Or, any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of this position.
