We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Machine Shop Assistant Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities, proficiency in CNC machine programming, and expertise in effectively scheduling production activities. This role is essential for maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of our machine shop. The position will transition to Machine Shop Manager.
LOCATION: Salem, NH (onsite)
SALARY: $65,000 - $70,000/Annually DOE
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, First Shift
Direct Hire Fulltime
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Support the Machine Shop Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the machine shop.
- Train under the current Machine Shop Manager to transition into the role.
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce high-precision parts.
- Develop and optimize CNC programs to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Schedule production activities to meet deadlines and ensure timely product delivery.
- Monitor production processes to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
- Train and supervise machine shop staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machinery, tooling, and production processes.
- Maintain inventory of raw materials and finished products to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to improve production methods and techniques.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all machine shop activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; a technical degree or certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficiency in CNC programming is required; experience with software such as Mastercam, G-Code, etc. is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of machining processes and production scheduling.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
