UNC Charlotte is Hiring a Director of External Human Performance Center Partnerships Near Charlotte, NC

The primary purpose of the Office of the Chancellor (Office) is to provide support to the Chancellor of the UNC Charlotte, support and coordinate the business of the Board of Trustees, and provide internal coordination and leadership on strategic and administrative matters.
Primary Purpose of Position
The director will oversee the strategic and proactive management of the UNC Charlotte partnership with the United States Performance Center (USPC) as it relates to USPC’s operations on UNC Charlotte’s campus and its collaboration and coordination with the University relative to research, athletics and academic initiatives, as well as space and land utilization.
The director will report to the Chancellor and work closely with university leaders and the principals and staff of USPC to ensure optimal collaboration and coordination as this partnership continues to expand, and the strategic and sustainable use of university resources relative to USPC’s operations and activities on the University’s campus.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
  • Serve as the University’s primary liaison to USPC
  • Manage the University’s relationship with USPC to ensure a successful and sustainable strategic partnership that has significant growth and economic impact potential
  • Maintain productive collaboration and regular communication with the principals and staff of USPC, as well as its advisors and consultants
  • Work closely with and provide counsel and direction to University units, including Athletics, Research, Academics, University Recreation, Conference and Reservations, Facilities Management, Constituent Relations and Legal Affairs, to strategically and efficiently manage all aspects of the USPC partnership and balance competing interests
  • Track the implementation of all agreements and work with all parties to ensure adherence with the tenets of all operational and other agreements, and to facilitate revisions as needed
  • Lead strategic discussions on behalf of the University relative to the growth of this partnership, including the construction of USPC’s permanent headquarters building and other athletics facilities, the expansion of National Governing Boards of Sport (NGB) residential programs, and the expansion of signature events on campus
  • In collaboration with USPC, develop relationships with the NGBs and other external partners to explore potential opportunities to benefit the University and its students
Minimum Education/Experience
  • Master’s Degree, preferably in sports management
  • Minimum of 10 years in a university setting, with demonstrated experience in sports administration, relationship management, external relations, operational planning, and athletics

  • Strong strategic planning, project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to successfully oversee the management of multiple projects, ensuring timely implementation and/or completion
  • A strategic and politically savvy problem-solver and thought partner with demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to optimally resolve issues
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal and listening skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail and follow-through
