Position Summary App Family Medicine is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our healthcare providers and delivering high-quality patient care in a primary care setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our patients. Key Responsibilities:
Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for patients. Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and other pertinent patient information accurately and efficiently. Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and proper functionality of medical instruments and supplies. Assist with patient intake processes, including verifying demographic information, insurance coverage, and obtaining necessary consent forms. Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures, such as specimen collection, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing, following established protocols and safety guidelines. Administer medications, vaccines, and immunizations under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers and according to clinic policies and procedures. Provide patient education and instructions on medication administration, diet, exercise, and other aspects of healthcare management as directed by providers. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to address inquiries, relay important information, and ensure understanding of treatment plans and follow-up care. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) documentation, including progress notes, medication lists, and treatment plans. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Position Qualifications Minimum Education - High School Diploma or GED is required.
Experience - Previous experience in healthcare or clinic setting is preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.
- RMA, AAMA, CCMA certification is required within one year from date of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Physical Demands - Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying medical equipment and supplies, occasionally weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Manual dexterity for performing medical procedures and operating equipment.
- Clear and effective communication with patients and team members.
Working Conditions - Indoor clinical environment with a well-maintained and clean facility.
- Exposure to various medical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and support staff in a professional and collaborative setting.
- Adherence to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
