As a member of the central research development team, the Limited Submissions & Internal Funding Coordinator will independently provide faculty consultations, plus project administration for several programs with flexible parameters that are moderately complex and time-sensitive. This individual is expected to possess the necessary analytical, organizational, and administrative skills to support both the assigned program areas and the Center for Research Excellence as a whole. This position reports to the Director of the Center for Research Excellence.University Wide Limited Submissions Management: This role coordinates the internal selection process for faculty applications to external funding agencies when the number of applications the agency will accept from any one institution is limited. Proactively identify and calendar ‘limited’ submission funding opportunities. Oversee end-to-end internal faculty competitions, including timely development and dissemination of internal calls for pre-proposals, recruiting and coordinating internal review teams, and communicating internal competition results to participating faculty. Must be knowledgeable of university sponsored research policies and thorough in ensuring application compliance. This position will exercise diplomacy when communicating complex processes to UNC Charlotte stakeholders and appropriately assess clients’ needs. The position will monitor limited submissions processes through ad-hoc or formalized data tracking, assist in technical decisions, and strictly adhere to tight deadlines. Communicate effectively with other university administrative stakeholders, particularly the Office of Research Services’ pre-award support staff.Internal Grant Funding Management: Support the day-to-day administration of internal grant programs. Analyze program requirements and be knowledgeable of university sponsored research policies. Effectively communicate and disseminate complex, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary internal funding opportunities and processes to faculty and administrative stakeholders. Collaborate with the Division of Research’s internal web-content managers to develop and publicize program application guidelines. Lead proposal deadline processing, ensure compliant applications, coordinate internal peer review processes, and communicate results to faculty participants. Due to the high strategic importance of internal grants to the university’s efforts to secure external funding, this position must exhibit diplomacy in relaying peer review results to participating faculty, including providing additional follow-up and service to those faculty when proposals are not recommended for funding.Metrics, Reporting, and Analysis: Establish metrics for quarterly and annual reporting of all program activities as described above to assist the CRE Director and the Associate Vice Chancellor for the Division of Research in making strategic decisions based on the best-available program data.
