This top-level mechanical engineering position is responsible for creating and updating 3D models and drawings utilizing Autodesk Inventor and CAD libraries. This includes creating an assembly using the available tools through Autodesk Inventor and being able to update as needed. Update the properties of the parts with descriptions, categories, part numbers, etc. Partner with our engineering team to create project schedules and assembly drawings.
Core Responsibilities:
• Proficient with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault PDM software
• Be a Parametric Modeling ninja
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to leverage previous experience
• Manage engineering team schedule, projects, and task lists
• Responsible for high-quality design work, accurate quoting, and analyzing customer requirements
• Use 3D library models and software to create complete release packages for production
• Create system layouts, assembly, and detail drawings according to project and customer requirements
• Analyze, design, and edit layouts using NFPA and IBC guidelines to ensure that designs and applications meet and exceed compliance
• Utilize NEC electrical codes to determine component selection, panel layouts, wire sizes, conduit sizes, and installation support
• Generation of single-line electrical and P&ID drawings
• Generation of bills of materials and other supporting documentation for designs
• Develop project scope schedule based on project requirements and lead times
• Review the completed design for errors and efficiency
• Supports Field Specialists and leadership team with design documents • Collaborates with suppliers on Sub Assembly processes
• Initiate internal concept review meetings
• Obtain necessary subcontract support and quotations
• Communicate with vendors via phone or email to provide documentation, develop alternative solutions, and receive and clarify quotations
• Maintain accurate project documentation
• Support quotation deadline requirements
• Attend customer meetings
Requirements:
• Five years minimum experience with 3D CAD, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD, a strong plus
• Two years minimum experience in a hands-on assembly position or equivalent
• One year minimum experience in a hands-on fabrication position or equivalent
• Two years Minimum experience in structural steel design or equivalent
• Must be a self-motivated individual
• Computer coding skills are a strong plus
• Visual design skills are a strong plus
• Competence in structural design methodologies and processes
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other team members
• Ability to remain flexible enough to accommodate any changes in scope and direction
• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent applied engineering experience
• Willingness and ability to obtain a minimum NICET level II license
