Unicare is currently seeking a Full Time Medical Assistant for our Fontana Health Center. The MA will work under the supervision of the Clinic Manager; assisting to maintain efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours. The Medical Assistant works as part of a health care team to provide comprehensive patient-centered primary care services including medical, dental, substance abuse treatment, mental health and outreach services to low income, multiethnic, uninsured and underinsured populations Qualifications, Education & Experience:
College education, high school diploma, or equivalent
Completion of Medical Assistant training program required
Phlebotomy certification a plus
Minimum of three-year experience in an outpatient medical clinic, hospital or medical setting
Requirements:
MUST be bilingual (fluent English and Spanish)
CPR certification
High School Diploma or its equivalent
Medical Assistant Certificate
2 years’ experience preferred
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with integrity
Ability to learn and use electronic health records
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Listens to complaints from patients regarding services rendered
Demonstrates accurate knowledge in management of emergency situations
Assists Physician in all Medical exams
Maintains set-up for all collection of all cultures and arranges for transportation to laboratory
Assists in minor surgery, positioning and draping patient, passing instruments
Gives injections, and performs phlebotomy
Cleans and sanitizes all community areas
Processing patient insurance
Collecting payments
Managing patient records
Entering appropriate data into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) as necessary
Assembling patient intake forms and scanning into practice management system
Scheduling and confirming appointments
Determining sliding scale program eligibility and pay scale type
Presenting fees to patients
Planning and setting-up health fair booths
Informing patients and the community about programs and services offered at Unicare Community Health Center
