Unifeye Vision Partners is Hiring a Lead Ophthalmic Technician Near Minnetonka, MN

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Lead Ophthalmic Technician for our Minnetonka clinic.
Location/Schedule:
This position will work Monday-Friday, between 7:30am-5:00pm. The home base of this position is the Minnetonka clinic, but may be scheduled to work shifts at the other MEC locations as needed (Blaine, Bloomington and Woodbury).

Position Summary:
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with the Ophthalmologists but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic and extensive information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), keratometry (manual and automated) visual fields, tonometry, A-scan, B-scan, fundus photography, perform refractive surgery workup's and assist with basic and complex clinical procedures.
  • Educate all patients on the diagnostic testing to which they will be undergoing and the purpose of the tests.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment.
  • Assist with ongoing education and mentoring of staff.
  • Stock all necessary supplies; clean all equipment and close down exam rooms at the end of the day.
  • Communicate and interact with Clinic Manager, MD's, OD's and other members of the clinical team.
In addition to Tech duties, the Lead Tech is expected to perform the following:
  • Provide peer leadership within the Tech team.
  • Collaborate with Clinic Leadership.
  • Serve as a resource for a Tech team, especially new and traveling Techs.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot clinic equipment.
  • Monitor and order clinic supplies.
  • Monitor daily patient flow, bringing concerns forward to Operations Manager.
  • Conduct skills assessments of new Techs and others when requested, helping to identify targeted training plans.
  • Involvement with hazardous waste, safety and compliance initiatives.
  • Training and mentoring new Techs (when applicable).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be currently be able to act in the capacity of a Tech II or III (which correlates to a COA/COT/COMT with the ability to refract.
Certificates, Licensees and/or Registrations Required:
  • Basic Life Support within six months of employment
  • COA, COT or COMT preferred but not required
