Since 2013, our site Unither Manufacturing LLC. based in Rochester (NY), specializes in the manufacture of Blow-Fill-Seal, Liquid Stick-Packs, Pharmaceutical bottles, Tablets and Capsules. It has more than 280 employees.

Your role

Reporting to the Packaging/Manufacturing Manager,

Please note - this is a B-Shift position (3:00pm - 11:30pm)

JOBSUMMARY: Directs andoversees the production process in operations (Packaging orManufacturing). Ensures that all phasesof production activity are performed in a safe manner and in compliance withGMP and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Maintains a management presence in the production areas through themonitoring and control of Production processes. Improves the efficiency of the operation by analyzing and correctingproduction problems; and coordinating with other departments to ensurescheduling efficiency and batch record audit completion.
ESSENTIALDUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Team ThatConsistently Delivers (30%)

  • Providessupervision and direction to staff and coordinates workflow within the workunit, including distributing work, disseminating information, assigning staffto cover for absences, providing technical assistance, answering questions, andresolving problems. Ensures work is scheduledeffectively; and checkpoints and controls are set for monitoring progress.
  • Monitorssubordinates’ attendance. Reviews andapproves vacation and leave requests. Authorizes all overtime. Verifiesand approves timecards.
  • Managesemployee performance by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance,providing clear, thorough, timely feedback. Promptly addresses performance problems through corrective action.
  • Evaluatesand appraises employee’s performance and follows-up with proper documentation.
  • Investigatesand addresses employee complaints and follows up with Manager, and HR asrequired.
  • Ensuresself and staff keep up to date on technical knowledge and developments thatimpact roles.
  • Ensures aneffective learning environment by coaching employees, orchestrating learningopportunities, and providing relevant, high-impact feedback.
  • Assists ininterviewing and hiring for subordinate staff.
  • UnderstandsHR policies and practices and uses them to manage employees.
  • Conductsongoing assessment and training needs identification including maintaining thetraining / skill matrix for assigned shift. Creates learning opportunities for all staff as part of dailyoperations.

ProductionSchedule Achieved (20%)

  • Driveseffectiveness and efficiency of department by; leading daily productionmeetings, reviewing performance of last 8–24 hours and coordinating with groupsoutside the Manufacturing/Packaging Team to obtain or provide informationand/or resources (such as personnel and equipment).
  • Drives highlevels of customer service levels by executing the production schedule --anticipating and mitigating operational issues through effective planning andcommunication with management, staff, peers, and support groups includingactively communicating corporate, department, and shift to shift information.

ResourcesEffectively Deployed (20%)

  • Identifiesweekly labor requirements and develops a schedule in conjunction with theManager. Actively participates incovering openings based on unexpected absences and break schedules, etc.
  • Coordinatesactivities with the other shifts according to Production requirements,established priorities, and availability of materials for production.
  • Developsand maintains the departmental cross functional training matrix to supportproduction and fill in for vacancies as needed through minimal use of overtime.
  • Activelymanages (minimize) overtime needed to accomplish schedule.

GMP/HS&ECompliance & Process Improvements (20%)

  • Participatesin Safety/GMP Audit Programs.
  • Will haltprocess and immediately notify QA and Manager of any concerns for ProductSafety or quality.
  • Participatesin investigations and prepares PR/Audit documentation as appropriate.
  • Ensuresstakeholders are appropriately trained on the process and any process changes.
  • Identifiesand implements opportunities for improvement in GMP, compliance, wastereduction, streamlining processes, etc. while maintaining process effectiveness(e.g. 5S).
  • Evaluateseffectiveness of SOPs, identifies changes that would enhance processes, andensures that all change control documentation is implemented.
  • Reviews,edits, and approves Operations documents.

Clean &Safe Work Environment (10%)

  • MonitorsProduction area conditions and ensures that work areas are organized, free fromhazards, and that the Production floor is clean.
  • Monitorsand verifies that all assigned employees, including temporary labor, followcompany GMPs, safety regulations, and all general workplace SOPs andpractices. Addresses any observedviolations and notifies Manager.
  • Holdsregular safety meetings.

Your profile

REQUIRED EDUCATION: B.S. degree strongly preferred with 2 years related experience preferably in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment; or
Associate’s degree with 5 years related experience preferably in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment;
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: 2 years previous supervisory experience preferred.

SPECIFICSKILLS:Ability tolead and maintain adequate level of performance of individuals engaged in jobtasks that are highly structured, routine, and repetitive.
Ability toresolve problems and issues to ensure efficient flow of manufacturingoperations and work completion.
Basic mathskills and ability to understand the metric system required.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must beable to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must havephysical mobility and dexterity to frequently stand, bend, push, twist, kneel,climb, stoop, and reach overhead.
  • May driveor operate lifts.
  • Works withchemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Pre-employmentphysical and drug testing required.
  • Manufacturingenvironment with variable but moderately high noise levels (hearing protectionrecommended).
  • Works withcontrolled substances and hazardous chemicals requiring safe handling andcontrol measures.
  • Must wearsafety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and other protective items as required.
  • Must wearappropriate garments and coverings per cGMP (uniforms, hair/beard nets, etc.).
  • No contactlenses, jewelry (rings, watches, etc.) or make-up are allowed.
  • Must beavailable for flexible schedule and/or overtime. Days and hours of work subject to change dueto production schedules.

Compensation range
