Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an After School Program Director. As an After School Program Director, you will play a key role in supporting educational programs and activities within the After School's environment. The Director of the Union Missionary Baptist Church (UMBC) After School Program is directly responsible for the administration and operation of the UMBC After School Program. The position reports directly to the Chairman of the Trustee Board.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education/Child Development/Any major with at least 18 credit hours in Early Childhood/Child Development from an accredited institution.
. Level Three North Carolina Administrative Credential
· 2 years’ experience as the director or assistant director of a childcare center
· Current criminal background check
· Knowledge of current North Carolina Early Childhood regulations
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
· Strong computer skills, especially use of Microsoft Office suite and Google tools
· Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to change
· Ability to work effectively and collegially with others
· Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited institution
· Classroom teaching experience
· Current medical report, valid TB test and first aid CPR certification
Essential Job Functions
· Demonstrates leadership and management necessary to ensure that the UMBC After School Program meets or exceeds local and state licensure and regulatory requirements
· Prepares, submits, monitors, and revises the annual budget to ensure that operating costs are met.
· Provides leadership in recruiting, hiring, orienting, evaluating and developing full-time and part-time staff.
· Communicates with parents and potential clients as necessary in a professional and timely manner.
· Reviews and revises handbooks, policies and procedures on an annual basis.
· Manages the recruitment, assignment and scheduling of staff to maximize learning outcomes for children and budget efficiency.
· Provides effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management for staff.
· Anticipates and responds to change.
· Fosters quality, innovation and improvement.
· Performs other duties as assigned that achieve the mission and initiatives of the program.
