PROJECT ARCHITECT

United Construction Company is currently seeking a Project Architect who will be responsible for researching, designing, producing accurate, complete and detailed permit and construction drawings to ensure the design is completed within the prescribed time frame and within the terms of the contract agreement.

DESIGN PROCESS

  • Reviews zoning and CC&Rs for to ensure site designs adhere to local ordinances and regulations.
  • Understands site constraints in the preparation of study plans and prepares designs accordingly.
  • Prepares submittals for design reviews, zoning variances and S.U.P.s.
  • Consults with owners to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
  • Fluent 3D modeling ability using Revit Architecture.
  • Plans layout of project and integrates engineering elements into unified design for design manager and owner review and approval.
  • Prepares project designs and plans using Revit Architecture preferred.
  • Coordinates work of various design disciplines.
  • Ensures final drawings address all established design criteria in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Works with Design Manager in establishing drawing production standards.
  • Prepares scale drawings and contract documents in sufficient detail and quality to ensure a smooth bidding and construction turnover.
  • Prepares submittals for permits to city and county.
  • Prepares submittals to utility company and water resources.
  • Performs energy calculations per state and federal code.
  • Prepares and coordinates drawings for responses to plan reviews.
  • Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
  • Responds to Requests for Information timely and answers them completely.
  • Reviews shop drawings.
  • Prepares As-Built Drawings.

LOCATION: Reno, Nevada

JOB TYPE: Full-time

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Architecture; and 6 -10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must have valid Nevada driver’s license
  • Current NV architectural certification/license highly recommended.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extensive experience using Revit Architecture, and Bluebeam.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including but not limited to Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn and effectively operate other types of software.

CUSTOMER PRESENTATIONS

  • Assist as required in the coordination, gathering and/or preparation of plans, graphics, exhibits, and leave-behinds for customer presentations.
  • Participate in customer meetings/presentations as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise design associates and draftsmen.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include assisting Management in interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
  • Conducts performance reviews with Design Manager.

CUSTOMER PRESENTATIONS

  • Provide technical support and preparation for customer proposal meetings and presentations.
  • Participate in customer meetings/presentations as required.
  • Assist as required in the coordination, gathering and/or preparation of plans, graphics, exhibits,

and leave-behinds for customer presentations

CUSTOMER RELATIONS

  • Establish good working relationships with Customers for every project United Construction is involved in.

INTERNAL RELATIONS

  • Establish good working relationships and communication with all internal departments and groups of United Construction including Operations, Estimating Department, Business Development, and Marketing & Communications.

EXTERNAL RELATIONS

  • Establish good working relationships and communication with all external departments and groups of United Construction including Architectural and Engineering Consultants, Governmental Agencies, Subcontractors, and Customers
  • Enhance and improve United Construction’s reputation through professional actions, presentations, services and deliverables.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Continuously improves the practical and technical approach to the work to assist in keeping United Construction competitive, aggressive and confident in our ability to obtain profitable work.
