DUTIES:

Provide design engineering staff augmentation support. Primacy responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with national consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education: Associate's degree in applicable science or engineering discipline.

Experience/Skills: Candidate must demonstrate twelve (12) years of relevant experience.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates functioning as Fire Protection Engineers shall be a graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum. If not such a graduate, the candidate must be a Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection.

Candidate possessing full membership in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) or a NICET Level III certification in the applicable subfield is deemed to have met the above requirements.

The candidate must demonstrate eight (8) years of recent design experience, four (4) of which shall include alarm & detection systems design.

General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID's, and battery loading calculations is required. Candidate must possess a working knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to fire detection and alarm systems, such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards.

Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.

Area Security Access:

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After the award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance ("L" or "Q") within the past two years are preferred.

Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) is preferred. Ability to use Windows Microsoft Office applications is required. Previous SRS Design Engineering experience is preferred.

Nice to Have:

Graduate of an ABET accredited fire protection engineering program

OR

B.S. in an engineering discipline and at least one of the following:

Registered professional engineer in fire protection

NICET Level 3/4 certification in fire alarm detection and signaling

Professional or fellow member of The Society of Fire Protection Engineers

Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance Q within the past two years are preferred.

Interview Process: Phone interviews

Duration of the Contract: One ( 1 ) year with the option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year option years in accordance with the attached job title

Anticipated Work Schedule: 4 10 hour shifts Monday through Thursday. Shift can change with managerial approval

Onsite or Remote? Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense. This is 100% onsite.
